Conflict is an inevitable part of life! However, how many people can say they have the skills to navigate through a conflict with the likely outcome being more connection versus less?
If you look at how you handle your conflict it’s probably in one of two ways or both. Most people when in conflict tend to 1) blame or attack the other person, 2) withdraw, or 3) do a little bit of both.
Humans have been trained to react to conflict in such a way that the likelihood for connection is diminished and connection seems almost impossible. Join me in my upcoming webinar to discuss the 5 Myths about Conflict and Communication and how Compassionate Communication or Non Violent Communication (NVC) can provide an alternative to your current conflict and communication processes.
5 Myths about Conflict & Communication:
It's often impossible for both parties to get what they really want when in conflict. There is a way to have a different kind of conflict. I will explain on this webinar how to redefine the way you look at conflict so there is a greater chance for connection and for all parties to get what they really want.
Some action or problem solving must be in place for a conflict to be resolved. Though empathy is a word known by all, on this webinar you will be introduced to the NVC empathy technique and be able to hear people and be with them in their experience in a whole new way that does not require you to fix or solve the situation or conflict.
With certain people – especially certain family members or co-workers - it’s just impossible to have an authentic connection. The same old results don't have to be the outcome. In this webinar, I will help you to begin to make some clear distinctions in the way you use words and the energy you bring to interactions that may, in fact, be getting in the way of clear communications.
There is no good that comes from being angry, so it's best to keep a lid on your anger when in conflict. It is true that when emotions are high, intelligence is low and when one is triggered it may be smart to take some time to cool down. However, most people don’t have effective strategies during that cool down time to ensure connecting communications afterwards. I will share some strategies so that the cool down time is effective.
When upset with someone or something, it is important to get your point across so that the person knows why you are upset. When in conflict, we have some typical ways of responding that actually get in the way of having a connection. In this webinar, we will begin to explore some atypical responses to conflict and discuss how these uncharacteristic responses may get us the connections for which we are really longing.
